My name is Deena Blumenfeld. I guide women to the threshold of motherhood so they may step through the door on their own with grace and confidence. Labor is work and birth is truly transformational. My passion and my profession both are pregnancy and childbirth.

I am a historian, a collector, a writer, a childbirth educator, birth doula, prenatal yoga and an MPH student at Pitt. I’m also the mother to two children.

I am the owner, principal educator and doula madame at Shining Light Prenatal Education in Pittsburgh, Pa. I author The Silent Mother, a blog about the unspoken and ugly parts of motherhood, with a historical twist.
